AFC Telford United have become one of the first clubs in non-league football to reward supporter loyalty beyond the season ticket, launching the Bucks Loyalty Points scheme in collaboration with StandBased.

AFC Telford United launch Bucks Loyalty Scheme in collaboration with StandBased

AFC Telford United have launched a new supporter loyalty scheme built in collaboration with StandBased, giving Bucks fans a way to earn recognition for their support that goes far beyond buying a season ticket.

The Bucks Loyalty Points scheme is live now and runs formally from the start of the 2026/27 season. It is powered by the club's free AFC Telford United app and connected directly to the club's online shop, away travel bookings and food and beverage outlets, so points are earned automatically as supporters go about their normal matchday.

Rewarding loyalty that a season ticket cannot measure

Priority access to high-demand fixtures has traditionally been allocated on one metric alone: whether a supporter bought a season ticket. It is simple to administer, but it is a blunt measure of commitment.

As the club put it in their announcement, season tickets "don't make sense for everyone, and can exclude people whose passion for the Bucks runs deep, but whose circumstances prevent them from committing to a big seasonal purchase."

Shift patterns, childcare, travel and household budgets all stop genuinely committed fans from paying up front in July. Those supporters may still attend twenty-plus matches, book onto away coaches and spend regularly in the club shop and on the concourse - and until now, none of that counted.

The Bucks Loyalty Points scheme changes that by measuring the behaviour itself rather than a single annual transaction.

How the scheme works

Points are earned through everyday supporter activity, with the club app acting as the hub. The published earn rates for the 2026/27 season are:

- Matchday check-in at the ground: 15 points

- Virtual check-in: 1 point

- Away travel booking: 10 points

- Club shop spend: 1 point per £1

- Food and beverage spend: 1 point per £1

- Half-time draw entries: 3 points per £1

- Predictor game: 1 point per play

In-person purchases are captured through a unique QR loyalty card held in the app, which supporters present at Win's Bar, the Club Shop, the Player's Lounge and the concourse before paying. Online purchases through the club shop, the table ordering system and the away travel system earn points automatically as long as the supporter is signed in.

Matchday check-in is geofenced to the New Bucks Head, so the fifteen-point in-person reward can only be claimed by supporters who are actually at the stadium. Fans following from elsewhere still earn through virtual check-in, keeping distant and overseas supporters inside the scheme rather than locked out of it.

Alongside priority access, the club has added a monthly prize draw. Every point earned in a month generates one entry, and entries do not deduct from a supporter's season balance - so fans are never choosing between winning a prize and building towards priority ticketing.

Balances run for the season and reset at the end of it, meaning every supporter starts 2027/28 level and no one is ever too far behind to begin.

Why this only works on a connected platform

A loyalty scheme is only as good as the data feeding it. The reason schemes like this have historically been out of reach for clubs outside the professional game is fragmentation: the app, the website, the shop, the ticketing system and the food and beverage tills are usually five separate products from five separate suppliers, none of which talk to each other.

Points cannot be awarded for a club shop purchase if the shop has no idea who the supporter is. A QR code cannot be scanned at the bar if the till system has never heard of the app.

StandBased removes that problem by running those functions on one connected platform. The club app, website, online shop, food and beverage ordering and away travel booking all share a single supporter record, so a purchase, a booking or a check-in updates the same account instantly and without manual reconciliation.

That single supporter view is what makes the whole scheme possible, and it is why Telford were able to backdate points to every online purchase made since 1st June - the data was already sitting in one place.

A first for non-league football

The collaboration makes AFC Telford United one of the first clubs in non-league football to give supporters a way to evidence their loyalty through more than an annual season ticket purchase.

It is a meaningful step. Loyalty schemes of this kind are familiar at Premier League and EFL level, where clubs have the commercial systems and staffing to run them. Delivering the same experience at National League North level, on a platform a small club team can actually administer, is exactly the gap StandBased exists to close.

The club has been open that this is a trial, and has asked supporters for feedback throughout the season so the scheme can be refined. That iterative approach is the right one - loyalty schemes work best when the earn rates and rewards reflect how a specific fanbase actually behaves, not a template borrowed from elsewhere.

AFC Telford United have worked with StandBased across their digital operation for some time, and you can read more about that in our AFC Telford United case study.

Considering a loyalty scheme at your club?

If your club wants to reward supporters for more than one purchase a year - matchday attendance, away travel, retail spend, food and beverage, and digital engagement - the foundation is a connected platform where all of that activity lands against a single supporter record.
